$12 Million Awarded for Route 66 BRT

$12 Million Awarded for Route 66 BRT

June 16, 2024

MetroLink Tulsa has been awarded a $12,728,889 grant from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program. This significant federal investment will enable us to develop 44 new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations along the historic Route 66 corridor, creating a transformative impact on our public transportation system.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • Route 66 BRT Stations: 44 state-of-the-art stations extending from Downtown Tulsa to Eastgate Metroplex on 145th Avenue, ensuring comfort and accessibility for all users.
  • Enhanced Mobility: The new east-west high-frequency transit line will integrate seamlessly with the existing north-south line on Peoria Avenue, creating a robust transit spine that facilitates reliable transfers, reduces travel time, and increases mobility across Tulsa.
  • Economic Development: Stimulates growth along the Route 66 corridor, driving economic opportunities and revitalizing communities.
  • Sustainability: Promotes a greener, more connected city by encouraging the use of public transportation.

Our Aero (700) Peoria BRT has already been a tremendous success, carrying one-third of MetroLink Tulsa’s ridership and increasing corridor usage by 60%. With the new Route 66 BRT, we are poised to revolutionize public transit in Tulsa once again.

We are excited to embark on this journey to build a better, more sustainable transit future for our city. Stay tuned for more updates as we progress with this transformative project.
